| Viking unveils Mirage commercial concealed sprinklers The Viking Corporation has introduced two new products to their Mirage line of commercial concealed sprinklers. In addition to offering the smallest diameter cover plate option in the industry, Viking's new Mirage sprinklers, VK462, include several innovative features for enhanced ease of installation. At only 2¾ inches in diameter, the Mirage Micro offers small cover plate for a clean, less noticeable installation. The Mirage Max, which uses the same sprinkler body as the Mirage Micro, provides a larger cover plate option for maximum horizontal adjustment. By requiring the same size ceiling hole as the Mirage Micro, the new Mirage Max allows the installer more 'forgiveability' to adequately cover the ceiling hole. The new Mirage sprinklers were specifically crafted with the installer in mind. Larger threads on the inside of the sprinkler cup provide for an easy 'push on, thread off' design while protecting the threads from drywall mud, paint, and other debris. The Mirage Micro and Max also have shorter take out dimensions than competitive products providing more flexibility when installing around obstructions such as ductwork and other tight ceiling spaces. The protective plastic cap was also redesigned to ensure a secure fit, maximum protection, and ease of removal. One of the most innovative features of the new Mirage sprinklers is a special dual-purpose sprinkler tool. This tool doubles as a limited use sprinkler head wrench, intended to be left behind in the sprinkler cabinet, as well as a tool to remove the sprinkler's protective cap after installation. The tool is designed to fit onto a length of one inch, DN25, CPVC pipe, enabling an installer to remove the protective caps without climbing up a ladder. The new Mirage is cULus listed and is available in four standard cover plate finishes - white, chrome, black, and ivory - as well as over 800 custom colors. Viking is a manufacturer of innovative fire protection equipment. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
