| Barnabus announces new solar roofing project Barnabus Energy announced that its acquisition, Connect Energy of California has secured an exciting new solar project; the Evelyn Pease Tyner Interpretive Center, located in Naperville, a nearly suburb of Chicago. The Tyner Interpretive Center was designed by Lois Vitt Sale of Wight & Company. The 6,000 square foot facility will be built on a 32-acre restored prairie and is to be constructed on a pin foundation to maintain the natural hydrology of the land. Its purpose is to be a learning shelter and exhibit space, telling the story of this important grassland ecosystem. In addition to solar tiles, the roof will be covered with prairie grasses and succulent plants. The roof design is composed of structural insulated panels with an R value of 38, making it highly efficient. Other environmental features include East West orientation, natural lighting, displacement passive ventilation, a geothermal heat pump for heating and cooling, and incorporation of environmental materials such as paneling made of wheat straw. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
