Metabo adds portable planer to woodworking tool line

Metabo has added a portable 13" planer to its new line of benchtop woodworking tools. With a large table length of 12" x33" providing a stable work area, the DH 316 13" x 6¼" Portable Thickness Planer is ideal for turning rough lumber into finished stock for building or reducing lumber to a recommended or preferred thickness. The DH 316 planer features double-sided quick-change blade and a chip removal indicator that saves time by accurately determining desired chip removal before the actual planing process, eliminating time consuming trials. Eight preset depth stops ensure fast and accurate planning to standard thicknesses of ¼" ½", ¾", 1", 1¼", 1½" and 1¾".

The new planer includes a lock-out safety switch, plus the planer head locks while changing blades, for additional safety. A four-post locking system stabilizes the cutterhead during operation for rigidity and accuracy. The powerful 15 amp universal motor has carbon brushes that can be easily changed.

The DH 316 features an exclusive dust hood with multiple extraction port sizes. A convenient tool storage compartment keeps cord, knife gauge and knife changing tools handy and deep side handles make it easy to carry. The heavy duty steel top allows users to pass material over the planer without damaging the tool. An optional stand is available.

No-load speed is 9700 rpm. The planer handles work pieces 10" or more in length from ¾" to 13" wide and 1/8" to 6¼" thick.
