Litheon SDS-plus Rotary Hammer from Bosch

Bosch Power Tools and Accessories announced the launch of the 11563VSR Litheon 36-volt One-inch SDS-plus Bulldog Rotary Hammer. The first in an expanding line of Bosch Litheon 36-volt power tools powered by the lithium-ion battery technology, the new Bulldog delivers corded power and speed in a compact and lightweight design. At only 9½ pounds, the newest Bulldog is nearly 15% lighter than the industry’s 36-volt NiCd rotary hammer. And the tool’s specially dialed-in and concentric piston, striker, impact bolt and guide tube enables the smooth transfer of energy. The 7.2 AMP motor powers 0-4,260 BPM and 0-960 RPM, enabling up to 50% faster drilling.

Optimal drilling ranges from 3/16-inch to 5/8-inch in concrete with a one-inch solid bit capacity and 2-5/8-inch thin wall core capacity. On tool features include the Bosch invented and industry standard SDS-plus tool holder, which offers tool-free bit changes with automatic bit locking, dust protection and maximum impact energy transfer. An integral clutch helps minimize torque reaction. And a three-mode selector makes changes between rotary hammer, hammer-only or rotation-only modes quick and easy.

The Bosch Litheon battery technology harnesses the benefits of Lithium-ion; maximum power and more runtime without a weight penalty. The battery is nearly the weight of an 18-volt NiCd battery but boasts twice the power and runtime. Bosch also extended its battery’s cycle-life, up to five-times longer than current competitive Lithium-ion. Special integrated battery pack cooling fins and vents combined with special onboard electronics enable the 36-volt battery to withstand high amp draw rotary hammer applications.

On the 11563VSR, the battery release button is comfortable and easy-to-use. The battery slide mechanism automatically aligns the contacts and provides extra support, while a double-lock system secures the battery in place. Other features include a soft-grip trigger handle and a 360º soft-grip auxiliary handle with built in quick release depth gauge for better control and comfort. A variable-speed trigger allows accurate bit actuation in addition to better control when removing fasteners or bound bits.
