Bilfinger Berger to provide major new river crossing near Vancouver

With the successful financial close of the ‘Golden Ears Crossing’ project in British Columbia, Canada, Bilfinger Berger has added a major transportation project to its concessions portfolio.

The project comprises financing, design, construction, and long-term operation of a 1, 000 meter-long bridge across the Fraser River, together with three kilometers of elevated highway and nine kilometers of associated connecting roads. The construction volume is €600 million. The concession company is wholly-owned by the Group, and represents an equity commitment of €38 million.

A consortium led by the Civil Engineering division of Bilfinger Berger will be responsible for design and construction work on the project. Upon completion, the concession company will then operate the crossing for a period of 32 years in return for a fixed fee paid by the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority (TransLink).
