Freedm fan-out cables for premises security applications

Corning Cable Systems introduces its Freedm Fan-Out Cable, designed to meet the demanding requirements of premises security applications. Freedm Fan-Out Cables utilize flame-retardant 900 micron buffered fiber subunits surrounded by water-resistant, dielectric strength members and protected by a flexible, flame-retardant, UV-resistant black outer jacket. The indoor/outdoor temperature- and water-resistant cable design provides superior environmental protection, and eliminates the need for a transition splice when entering a building.

This construction makes the Freedm Fan-Out Cable ideal for providing direct optical connections from indoor and outdoor surveillance cameras to security control locations. The cable is also suitable for traffic control applications, with optical feeds in rugged environments; building networks, with low-fiber-count connections within building backbone riser and horizontal spaces; and premises data networks, for direct terminations inside and between building locations.

Freedm Fan-Out Cables meet the application requirements of the National Electrical Code and are OFNR and FT-4 listed. The easily terminated 2.9 mm subunits enable field terminations, and the buffered fibers allow for easy, consistent stripping. Additionally, the cable’s small diameter and bend radius provide for easy installation in space-constrained areas.
