Hochtief to build the largest offshore windfarms in Europe

Hochtief Construction AG and its Danish partner, E. Pihl & Son, have been awarded the contract to build one of the largest offshore windfarms in Europe, with 48 plants and a nominal output totaling 110 megawatt.

The "Lillgrund" project off the cost of Malmö has a volume of EUR 33 million. The client is the Swedish energy company Vattenfall. A working group commissioned by the EU commission has estimated the total European offshore wind power potential as amounting to around 140, 000 megawatt by 2030. Experts expect the European market volume for foundation work, such as that involved in the Lillgrund project, to reach EUR 7.5 billion by 2015.
