| FCC to provide sanitation services for the Basque capitals The Contracting Committee of the Vitoria Town Council has proposed FCC to provide the city's sanitation services for the next eight years, with the possibility of a two-year extension. The contract is valued at a total of 200 million euros. In order to provide trash collection and street clearing services, FCC will invest some 15 million euros, primarily in the purchase of 180 vehicles including garbage trucks and special street cleaning equipment. All of the equipment will have GPS satellite navigators and on board computers installed, with the ability to send and receive data and communications. The engines of many of these vehicles will be powered by compressed natural gas, the most highly advance technology available on the market today for reducing contamination. With this award, FCC will provide service to the three Basque capitals: Bilbao, San Sebastián and Vitoria, along with 75 other municipalities in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
