| Bechtel will focus on maintenance services Having successfully installed more than 35, 000 temporary housing units for nearly 100, 000 Mississippi residents displaced by Hurricane Katrina, Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI) has begun to transition this responsibility to another contractor at the direction of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA set for Bechtel a contract ceiling of no more than 36, 000 temporary housing units. Now that Bechtel has nearly completed its assigned mission, FEMA is transferring most of the hauling and installing work to other contractors.
