Flatiron Constructors wins contract in North Carolina

Colorado-based Flatiron Constructors has secured in joint venture a USD 192 million (EUR 170 million) contract to construct the new Washington Bypass in North Carolina. Flatiron is leading the joint venture with a 60% share.

The design-build contract will be executed with Flatiron’s joint venture partner United Contractors (40%), with Earth Tech as the joint venture’s design consulting engineer. The new four-lane bypass along US Highway 17 will begin south of Price Road and will extend seven miles to reconnect with US 17 just south of Hamilton Beach Road.

Design and permitting will simultaneously occur over the first year, with construction beginning in February of 2007 and lasting approximately three years.
