| Lafarge North America appoints Merrill Lynch to assist with a tender offer Lafarge North America, the U.S. and Canada’s largest supplier of construction materials, announced that the Special Committee of its board of directors has retained Merrill Lynch & Co. to help review the proposed tender offer from France's Lafarge S.A. The Special Committee was established on February 8, 2006, consists of directors who are unaffiliated with Lafarge S.A. Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett LLP and Venable LLP were hired for legal advice to the Special Committee.
