| Volvo launches new skid steer loader class Volvo Construction Equipment has launched its new B-Series skid steer loader product line. The new class includes five models: Volvo MC60B, Volvo MC70B, Volvo MC80B, Volvo MC90B and the Volvo MC110B. Operating capacities range from 612 kg to 1020 kg and engine power from 36.9 kW to 64 kW. The Volvo B-Series skid steer loaders offer the operator a choice of popular foot and hand mechanical controls or the remarkable comfort and efficiency of hand-operated hydraulic pilot controls. Both control systems were designed with the assistance of skid steer loader operators in multiple competitive field evaluations to achieve the highest level of operator comfort, performance and productivity. A new seat bar provides an ergonomic armrest and control lever positions fall naturally to hand, creating improved efficiency and reducing fatigue. New joystick handles for both the mechanical and pilot control systems incorporate the standard auxiliary hydraulics function. The hydraulic pilot control system provides comfort and convenience. Dual joysticks allow the operator to activate all loader functions with the right hand and control all drive functions with the left. Electro-proportional auxiliary hydraulics and a foot throttle are also standard on pilot controls machines to increase operational precision. The all-new operator cab is available in open canopy or enclosed cab configurations. Both feature roll-over protection, ROPS, and falling objects protection safety engineering. The ROPS rating of 5400 kg allows operators to utilize the largest attachments with confidence. Larger front and rear openings and windows improve visibility forward, to the rear and sides, and above to provide a better view of the attachment when loading trucks. Isolation mounts reduce vibration and noise to the operator. A variety of seat options is available, including a suspension seat and the industry’s best high-back deluxe cushion seat. The optional enclosed cab features a large front door with maximum glass area for optimal visibility. A windshield wiper/washer is included. Side windows are easily removed for cleaning and a three-point seat belt keeps the operator securely in place. The enclosed cab will be available either with a heater or heater/air conditioner. Volvo CE is now the only manufacturer to offer air conditioning on every model of its new skid steer loader range. Instrumentation, designed for the new equipment, is simple, easy to read, and provides both visual and audible warnings should an operating problem occur. The new Volvo B-Series skid steer loader is also available with an optional auto-shutdown system and an anti-theft keypad to provide an added level of machine protection. For increased performance and efficiency, the entire line features new generation Tier 2 compliant 4-cylinder Volvo engines. Perfectly matched to each size machine, the 16-valve, liquid-cooled Volvo engines deliver the strong engine peak torque for digging in tough conditions and the power required for a large variety of operations that range from landscaping and demolition to material handling and site maintenance. The Volvo B-Series skid steer loader has a universal quick attach system that can be used with nearly all skid steer loader attachments available today, and it has flat-faced hydraulic couplers for easy connection and a tight seal.
