Carillion is preferred bidder for £137 million road contract in Canada

Support services and construction company Carillion has been appointed preferred bidder for a road maintenance contract in Canada worth £137 million over seven years.

Carillion Canada Inc has been appointed preferred bidder by the Alberta Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation for five contract maintenance areas (CMAs). The five CMAs cover 5, 670 equivalent two-lane kilometres of primary and secondary roads in the north east and central regions of Alberta, west of the Alberta/Saskatchewan border.

Key elements of the seven-year contract, which starts in August 2006, include summer and winter road patrolling, wayside rest area maintenance, vegetation management, sign, fence and guardrail maintenance, traffic markings, 24/7 emergency traffic control and winter maintenance.
