Granite Construction awarded $266.8 million project in Mississippi

Granite Construction Company, in joint venture with Archer Western Contractors of Atlanta, Georgia, has been awarded a $266.8 million bridge replacement project at St. Louis Bay, near Gulfport, Mississippi.

Granite's portion of the contract is approximately $160.1 million or 60%. The award was made by the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

The project encompasses the removal and replacement of the US 90 highway bridge over St. Louis Bay, which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and includes the design and construction of the bridge and approaches on each end.

Work will begin in February 2006 with an estimated completion date of November 2007.
