| BPR-Bechtel receives "Project of the Year Award" for Alcan BPR-Bechtel, a leader in plant engineering services and sustaining capital program management services, received the "Project of the Year Award" from the Montreal chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) for a mandate completed for the Alcan Primary Metal Group. The new potlining centre at Alcan's Alma smelter was an unmitigated success. As stated by Pierre Gagnon, Project Manager for the Alcan Primary Metal Group, "We benefited from four exceptional advantages: a project schedule shortened by five months, a 21% reduction in costs, the use of permanent facilities to train plant operators and early start-up of operations." The PMI Montreal chapter launched this annual competition in May 2005 to showcase excellence in engineering project management in Quebec.
