| The Chinese chose BAM Rail and Pfleiderer to lay the line between Wuhan and Guangzhou Bunnik, Netherlands – BAM Rail, Royal BAM Group's railway construction company, has signed a contract in Beijing, as part of a consortium led by the German company Pfleiderer, for the transfer of know-how regarding ballastless track technology. The contract with the Chinese Ministry of Railways relates to the transfer of know-how and training of Chinese engineers in Europe and in China. This ballastless track technology is based on the Rheda 2000 system, which BAM is currently using in the Netherlands for the High-Speed Line South Section. Wuhan is approximately 1, 000 kilometres west of Shanghai. The line consists of almost 1, 000 kilometres of double track, of which at least 600 kilometres will be laid using the Rheda 2000 system. BAM will assign a number of Dutch employees for the training programme. BAM Rail will also supply China with track-laying equipment that was developed for this system in the Netherlands. The Shanghai office of Tebodin, Consultants & Engineers will coordinate the Chinese activities on BAM's behalf. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
