| BAA selects team for early stages of Heathrow East project proposal BAA has selected Foster and Partners, Ove Arup & Partners and Hoare Lea & Partners as the respective architect, structural engineer and building services engineer to work on the Heathrow East proposal. Mace and Laing O'Rourke have been appointed to provide early stage construction advice and Doig and Smith has been selected to provide early stage commercial advice. These companies have been appointed for early design and development work only. They are working to assess the viability of the project in the run up to a possible planning application at the beginning of next year. Mark Shirburne Davies, Facility Solutions Director, BAA said: “We have made these appointments swiftly as we need to commence early stage design and development work at the end of this month. We received high quality proposals from all the companies who we invited to tender. All of the proposals were carefully assessed and our decisions have been based on a number of key criteria. The selected companies are all preferred BAA suppliers: Fosters and Hoare Lea are working on multiple projects across our 7 UK airports whilst Arup is currently working on Terminal 5”. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
