| AIA inaugurated new President and Vice President Katherine Lee Schwennsen, FAIA, associate dean of the Iowa State University College of Design, was inaugurated as the 82nd president of The American Institute of Architects (AIA). Schwennsen succeeds Ohio architect Douglas L Steidl, FAIA, and will represent the over 77, 000 members of the AIA in the coming year. AIA members elected Schwennsen at the AIA 2004 Annual Convention in Chicago based largely on her dedication to the next generation of architects. Christine McEntee, formerly CEO of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), was named the Institute’s new executive vice president and chief executive officer effective February 1, 2006.
