“Nihombashi Mitsui Tower” Grand Opening

Mandarin Oriental Tokyo was launched their hotel business on the upper floors of newly opened Nihombashi Mitsui Tower (39 stories high, 4 basement floors). All the features of the Tower are now in full-line.

The Tower symbolizes the redevelopment work of Mitsui Main Building block (approx. 1.4 hectare) at 2-chome, Nihombashi-Muromachi, Chuo Ward, Tokyo.

Ever since the construction completion on July 29, 2005, the Tower welcomed new office tenants, opened restaurants and shops at the lower floors and inaugurated Mitsui Memorial Museum. Many visitors stop by at the “Mitsui Echigoya Station”, the Nihombashi’s information center located on the opposite side of the street from the Tower.

Hereafter the core redevelopment plan in Nihombashi district will now be the “East-Muromachi District Redevelopment Project”. In this redevelopment plan, Mitsui Fudosan plans to align the height of the lower façades to 31 meters in order to improve and formulate good and unified townscape along the Chuo-Dori. Already, façades of Nihombashi Mitsui Tower, Mitsui Main Building and Mitsukoshi Department Store (both main building and new building) are associated with one another. By the end of this project, there will be a 31 meter skyline over a distance of approximately 400 meters along Chuo-Dori.

The East-Muromachi District Redevelopment Project targets year 2012 completion.
