| Aurora Unwrapped to Reveal a Glimpse of Brisbane's Heritage Brisbane got its first glimpse of landmarks old and new last week when the protective covering was removed from the historic 117-year-old façade incorporated into the state-of-the-art Aurora apartment tower being developed by Amalgamated Property Group. The unveiling follows an extensive restoration of the 117-year-old Queensland Heritage Council-listed façade of the former Queensland Country Life building. The façade dating back to 1888, was originally part of a warehouse complex and the official entrance to the former Port of Brisbane. The new role of the façade is as part of the 217-metre Aurora development which features 478 units and at 69 floors, will be the tallest residential tower in Brisbane. Due for completion in the second quarter of 2006, the Aurora will be the tallest residential building in Brisbane. Bovis Lend Lease has been recently appointed construction consultants on another future Gold Coast landmark, the 77-story 'Soul' tower for Juniper Developments. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
