| Building Integrated Photovoltaics with CIS Arup is holding a series of workshops, with architects and clients, throughout Europe to discuss the use of Photovoltaics in buildings. This is part of an EU funded consortium of designers, universities, researchers and manufacturers to study building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) with a potentially promising technology, called CIS. Photovoltaics is the use of sun light converted directly into electricity. A workshop was held in Arup office in Madrid where Rafael de la Hoz, Lamela, Rogers, Abalos & Herreros, and other well known firms were represented. A new law will come into effect in 2006 dictating that any commercial or public building over 10, 000m² must include this eco-friendly energy. The attendants received a copy of a PV design guide prepared by Arup, aimed at architects and designers. Future workshops on the same issue will be held in the Arup offices of Milan and Amsterdam in December. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
