| Amec wins the DuPont Safety Award 2005 Amec has received a major safety award from science company, DuPont. Presented by Neil Armstrong at DuPont’s Safety Forum held in Geneva, the award recognises the success of Amec’s “Delivering World Class Safety Performance” programme. The DuPont Safety Awards are given for individual and collective safety initiatives in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Amec's Industrial division works in potentially hazardous sectors such as gas transportation and storage, nuclear reprocessing and bulk chemicals, meaning that workforce safety is of paramount importance. During the third quarter of 2002, AMEC embarked on a review of its safety performance and discovered that there were four areas that it would have to target to produce improvement, the most crucial of which was the need to change the way people thought and behaved. The other areas to address were: performance benchmarking; raising awareness; and obtaining employee buy-in. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
