| Network Rail awards Amec West Coast main line rail contract Network Rail have awarded Amec of a Ј20 million contract for the upgrade of the West Coast main line from Sandbach to Wilmslow, Cheshire. The new work, for work packages 3 and 4 of the Sandbach to Wilmslow line, involves remodelling of switches and crossings, new overhead power lines, track renewal, demolition of existing signal boxes and relay rooms, drainage works, civil engineering and new structures. This is the latest contract won by Amec as part of the massive modernisation of the West Coast main line. The company recently completed work packages 1 and 2 between Sandbach to Wilmslow, worth Ј18 million, and prior to that was part of the South Manchester and Route 7 Alliances that successfully delivered Ј290 million worth of upgrades. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
