Dornbirn Light Forum extensively restructured

The newly extended Zumtobel Staff Dornbirn Light Forum was officially opened with an event attended by over 600 guests.

Along with many customers from around the world, the guests included a large number of prominent architects, designers and artists, journalists and politicians. In two short presentations, Danish lighting artist Olafur Eliasson and Kjetil Thorsen from Norwegian architects Snøhetta talked about the interplay between light and art, and art and architecture respectively.

The centre of the Light Forum is the "Wide Cube" - a clear cubic structure that forms the stage for presenting light in its specific applications, product innovations and technologies. The theme cubes installed exhibit lighting solutions for Zumtobel Staff's eight application areas in a practical and stimulating way. In another cube, new technologies are presented, e.g. micro-pyramidal optics and the PSP+ reflector coating made of purest silver. The cube concept provides for a consistent rendering of light in an architectural environment.
