New cordless Gas Nailer from Hitachi

Hitachi Power Tools announced a new Gas Nailer, the NR90GC. This 3-½” gas powered clipped head framing nailer combines cordless utility with traditional framing nailer power. The power is generated from an interchangeable 7.2V NiCd battery and fuel rod. The battery recharges in only 1 hour, which is half the time required of the leading competition. The NR90GC drives up to 2 nails per second and 1000 nails per hour. The battery will fire over 4,000 nails per charge and each fuel rod fires 1,200 nails. A 6-nail lockout feature prevents accidental dry fire assuring nails are lodging securely and work is completed as intended.

Hitachi’s NR90GC fires up to a 3-½” x .131 clipped head nail, the competition falls off at 3-¼” nail range, to offer maximum flexibility and versatility on the job. A 2-step nail loading procedure saves time and energy. Simply slide the paper tape nails into the magazine, pull back and release the feeder to minimize disruption and speed things up. The magazine itself is made from a composite material that offers exceptional strength and reduces the overall weight of the tool, while offering an easy view of the nails to avoid untimely reloads. The adjustable depth of drive nose piece assures proper nail down with varying materials. A low battery indicator light is conveniently located on top of the magazine. This highly visible, status alert system indicates the battery’s charge life by flashing a green or red light.

In order to achieve a comfortable feel and reduce user fatigue, the battery placement is situated towards the rear of the nailer to provide exceptional balance that is apparent to anyone using the nailer. The Hitachi patented elastomer grip coats the handle to provide comfort and ensure a secure grip. The fuel rod compartment door was designed with a double lock to assure the fuel rod is seated firmly and the door will not pop open and interrupt operation. A collapsible rafter hook located at the rear side of the magazine can be used to hang the tool on a rafter when both hands are needed. It folds away securely when not needed. Weighing only 7.7 lbs, this lightweight nailer can be used all day with minimal fatigue.

The Hitachi NR90GC comes with a 7.2V battery, 1-hour charger and carrying case. Early next year, the full round head version, the NR90GR will be available. These gas nailers are ideal for general contractors, remodelers, construction workers and service workers who do framing, sub flooring, fencing, sheathing, decking, truss build-up, modular housing construction, remodeling and punch out work.
