| Mario Botta Opens His First Ever UK Exhibition World-renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta will open his first UK exhibition, The Architecture of the Sacred: Prayers in Stone, on 22 November 2005. The exhibition is a display of twelve “sacred spaces”, which make up a unique body of work. These projects are explored through text, image and a series of spectacular models. They include the church of St. John the Baptist set in a mountain basin at Mogno, Switzerland; the Cymbalista Synagogue in Tel Aviv and the spectacular Chapel of St. Mary of the Angels on the mountain-side at Tamaro, Switzerland. On 22 November 2005, Mario Botta will give a lecture at the RIBA where, through his most recent work, he will focus on the impact of building, both on its immediate urban environment, and the society which inhabits it. During his visit to the RIBA, the architect will also make a presentation of his work which will be donated to the RIBA Drawings Collection. Mario Botta will speak about a number of his current projects, including the renovation of La Scala Theatre in Milan, the Leeum Museum in Seoul and Noah’s Ark sculpture garden in Jerusalem. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
