| Utility embarks on new solar power project Silicon Valley Power is embarking on a new solar project to provide solar power for a renewable energy program. Santa Clara Green Power, the utility's renewable energy program, will continue to contribute to the clean, pollution-free energy supported by the program's participants. As part of the program, the utility announced plans to install 224 new solar panels on the roof of a local industrial machinery shop. Since the program was launched one year ago it has reached a 4.35 percent participation rate among its customers with more than 2,100 customers already enrolled. The new solar system will produce 55, 600 kilowatt hours of energy per year - roughly enough energy to power nine average Santa Clara homes. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
