Support grows for £100m revamp of Crystal Palace Park

More than 3600 people have had their say on the London Development Agency’s proposals for major improvements to Crystal Palace Park, with many ideas gaining as much as 90 per cent support.

However, proposals for the Norwood Triangle corner have proved as controversial as expected, with none of the four options put forward gaining either overwhelming support or opposition. Two of those options include apartments on the corner of the park, which would help to fund either an underground carpark for the town centre or other improvements.

Suggestions gaining the most support include the new National Sports Centre, the City Farm and the overall proposals to increase the amount of accessible parkland by 39 acres. There is also very strong support for the LDA’s overall vision and core principles for the park.

The consultation continues until 20 December, with the questionnaire available on www.crystalpalacepark.org.uk
