Improvement Project at Los Angeles International Airport

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) released the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) for the South Airfield Improvement Project at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The Final EIR contains LAWA's written responses to the nearly 600 comments from individuals and organizations on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) received during a 45-day public comment period that ended Sept. 15, 2005.

The Final EIR will next undergo further actions required under the LAX Specific Plan Process and is tentatively scheduled for consideration by the Board of Airport Commissioners in December 2005.

The proposed project consists of the relocation of Runway 7R/25L to approximately 55 feet to the south of its current centerline location and the construction of a new center parallel taxiway between the two south runways. These improvements were identified as part of the LAX Master Plan.
