Quiet Pavement presentation

Eastside Citizens For Responsible Development is hosting a community presentation about the use of Rubberized Asphalt - also known as "Quiet Pavement" - which has been proven to reduce road noise for communities close to freeways in other areas of the country. The presentation will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Bellevue City Hall.

This test would provide statistics on RA Quiet Pavement's proven noise mitigation capabilities and also on the environmentally sound use of excess/waste rubber tires - which uses 1, 000 discarded tires per lane mile.
The use of RA Quiet Pavement is a legislative requirement in Arizona and California and has been in use in these states for 13 years, with stellar results. The Federal Highway Administration does not yet recognize RA Quiet Pavement as a noise mitigation technique and continues to use only noise walls, which are cost prohibitive, and in many cases, such as where bridges or steep slopes are involved, neither practical nor effective.
