| Lumex introduces new family of surface mount LEDs  Lumex is introducing its new family of surface mount technology light-emitting diodes. Their SML-LX1110xx-TR series includes SMT LEDs with intensities as high as 25, 000 mcd. Offered in the PLCC-4 package, these devices are ideal for backlighting, interior and exterior automotive lighting, architectural and decorative lighting, or anywhere a high-intensity light source is required with the benefits of surface mount packaging. Lumex's new SML-LX1110xx-TR high-power LEDs are available in four colors including red, yellow, green and blue. Typical brightness levels range from 2, 500 mcd to 25, 000 mcd at If = 350mA.All colors are available with viewing angles of either 90° or 120°. The square PLCC-4 packages measure just 10mm on each side. They include internal reflective cavities to maximize light output and have a polarity mark for easy identification and proper placement. These devices are supplied on standard 24mm tape for automated assembly.
