Interbuild to showcase software solutions for construction sector

Interbuild 2006, the UK's leading construction sector exhibition, is set to feature a huge range of leading edge computer software including products from Microsoft - the world's largest IT company.

The exhibition takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from April 23-27, where EVision, a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner, will be demonstrating its solutions for the construction sector, which have been developed with the award-winning Microsoft Business Solutions – Navision.

EVision is showcasing its Microsoft Navision-based Build IT solution alongside products from Sage, Causeway, ConQuest and Crest in the iTSHOWCASE section of the UK's premier construction event.

Jonathan Hughes, Director of the Microsoft Business Solutions Partner Group, said: "Our partners have the right combination of skills and expertise to develop leading edge industry-specific business applications, based on Microsoft technology.

"The construction sector is an important part of the overall UK economy and EVision's Build IT solution can bring substantial business benefits to construction companies. As a Microsoft Gold partner, EVision can offer customers the reassurance of a truly professional organisation with the backing of Microsoft's resources."

As well as providing a range of efficiency and productivity gains, Build IT can assist companies in the construction sector to cope with the increasing amount of regulation they have to deal with, including reacting to far-reaching alterations in the Construction Industry Scheme.

The scheme, which sets out special rules for contractors and subcontractors on how to deal with income tax and National Insurance, will force companies to ensure their accounting and payroll systems are supporting their business needs.

At the same time, that will present an ideal opportunity to take advantage of the additional benefits of moving to an up-to-date enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.

Said Steve Dunbar, construction sector manager for Microsoft UK: "The level of collaboration needed on major, and even simple, construction projects is arguably more than in any other industry.

"As such, the integration of traditional accounts, project planning and other business applications can bring enormous benefits. We see the work of EVision as a crucial part of bringing the benefits of our technology to the UK construction sector."

Utilising Microsoft Navision, EVision's application Build-IT has been one of the most successful products to enter the construction market in recent years.

The growing influence of IT companies within construction will be very much in evidence at Interbuild, which takes place at the NEC from April 23-27. The iTSHOWCASE area was a complete sell-out at Interbuild 2004 and although the organisers have allocated considerably more space for exhibitors in April, that too is filling up fast.
