| New Work Area Vision System from Caterpillar  Work Area Vision System is a versatile system to provide operators with views from up to three cameras positioned strategically around the machine - increasing the operator's awareness of his surroundings, work tool activity, and changing conditions around the machine. A large 7" color LCD display provides a sharp, clear image to the operator. Extremely rugged, compact cameras provide a panoramic view spanning 115 degrees. For multi-camera systems, advanced switching algorithms provide the optimum view automatically to the operator without operator input. The operator has full hand usage for machine operation, however a manual override is always available to the operator.The display mounting system is sturdy enough to keep the display orientation fixed, even when operating in the most rugged terrain. The system is user-adjustable allowing the user to control the position of the system in an infinite number of options. The cameras have been tested and proven to survive operation in the harshest environments, unaffected by extreme levels of vibration, cleaning with high pressure wash even immersion in one meter of water. An internal heater automatically turns on when the temperature gets cool to quickly remove condensation, even snow and ice from the camera lens. And a photochromic lens darkens automatically when exposed to ultraviolet light. Developed specifically for the rugged earthmoving, construction, and quarry environments, the Caterpillar WAVS is simple to install, easy to use, yet powerful in its features and capabilities. The installer programs the rearward pointed cameras to provide a mirror image. The installer has the capability to set a horizontal distance marker to provide the operator a positive means of identifying object distances. In multi-camera systems, the settings for each camera are set and stored separately. The display is so smart it automatically senses changes in cab illumination and decreases display brightness accordingly. WAVS is the perfect addition to any Caterpillar machine.
