Don’t turn up the volume – soundproof

Are the sounds of a thumping stereo, the rat-a-tat-tat of a construction zone, dogs barking or the ever-popular, me-e-e-ow regular sounds in your neighborhood? These noises and many more are irritating and distracting sounds. They invade your life and disturb your sleep, robbing you of your serenity. Instead of turning UP the volume to drown out those noises – soundproof. Soundproofing materials block sound and greatly reduce noise. Now because of technical advances, soundproofing materials have become reasonably priced so that more people may take advantage of soundproofing benefits.

Through the proper use and installation of soundproofing material, you can block noise out of your home, apartment, office, condo, restaurant, conference or baby’s room. The more sound transmission is blocked, the more effective the soundproofing.

One tried and true attack on noisy neighborhoods is the use of mass loaded vinyl barriers. Mass-loaded vinyl barriers block noise from entering the wall. The barrier is applied to studs or other structural points, and can be used as an underlay or overlay. Soundproofing barriers can be used on walls, ceilings, floors or around windows – wherever you want to block noise. The mass loaded vinyl barriers are made of heavy, thick weighted minerals, specially designed to stop sound. The heavier the barrier, the more sound it stops. Flexible, durable and wear-resistant, mass loaded vinyl barriers can tolerate temperature ranges from -44 to 255°F. These barriers are versatile and easily adaptable to construction and remodeling procedures.

For the most effective and maximum noise blocking, vinyl barriers should be installed as part of a wall composite. Only a few simple tools are required for installation and many homeowners will be able to undertake this project on their own. To determine how much vinyl barrier material is needed for your project, you will need your room dimensions.

Take care of neighborhood noises without alienating your neighbors and involving the authorities – let soundproofing block out the noise and restore your peace and quiet.
