| Two new cordless screwdrivers from Bosch The unprecedented success of Bosch with the Ixo cordless screwdriver continues: 2.5 million Ixo have been sold so far. As of October 2005, there will be two new cordless screwdrivers from Bosch with an even more powerful lithium-ion battery: PSR 200 LI and PSR 300 LI. Thanks to their modern battery technology, the screwdrivers have all of the advantages of the Ixo: they are very small, lightweight, handy, have hardly any self-discharge and can be recharged at any time – without having any negative effect on their battery capacity. The charging process shuts down automatically when the battery is full. Just like the Ixo, the PSR 200 LI also has a "Powerlight" for working in dark areas. What's more, it also has LEDs that display both the forward/reverse operation and the charging state: red light means the battery is charged to maximum 30 percent. The screwdriver also offers the user the practical magnetic hexagon shank. New in comparison to the Ixo are six electronically adjustable torque settings, with which the DIY enthusiast can select the right power for his screwdriving application – a means of restraining the power of the 7.2-Volt battery when required by the task at hand. In the top setting, the tool can even drive screws with a diameter of six millimeters. When doing so, the screwdriver sits comfortably in your hand thanks to its ergonomic shape and the softgrip supports. The no-load speed is 210 revolutions per minute. The even more powerful cordless drill/driver PSR 300 LI also possesses all of these advantages. With the 10.8-Volt battery, it masters virtually all drilling and screwdriving applications that a DIY enthusiast encounters in his day-to-day work. Being a real drill/driver, it has an accelerator switch, its maximum no-load speed is 400 revolutions per minute. The maximum drilling diameters are ten millimeters in wood and six millimeters in steel. There are ten torque settings for fine adjustment of the power when drilling or screwdriving. The setting wheel is housed in the base of the tool. The internal hexagon quick-change chuck allows for fast bit changes: simply insert and engage. With the Bosch electronics, the user can set the speed at the accelerator switch to the desired rate up to a speed of 400 revolutions per minute. Bosch supplies both new cordless tools in a carrying case. This comes complete with the five-hour charger and accessories for many applications: Bosch supplies the PSR 200 LI with twelve screwdriver bits; the PSR 300 LI with two hexagon drill bits, ten screwdriver bits and a magnetic bit extension. The new lithium-ion cordless screwdrivers will be available at retail outlets from October 2005. The recommended retail prices are 69.99 euros for the PSR 200 LI and 89.99 euros for the PSR 300 LI. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
