Versatile new shear from Metabo

Metabo Corporation, a manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, now offers a compact 16-gauge shear that functions either as a portable tool or a stationary one, significantly increasing the versatility of the tool. The new Ku 6872 is ideal for burr-free cutting, shearing and trimming of sheet metal and plastic. The Ku 6872 easily mounts upside down on a tool bench, which quickly converts it from a portable tool to a stationary one for use with small pieces of material. The shear is easily operated with one hand in either the portable or stationary position and a lock-on switch provides better control. A metal strip on the top serves as a rest when the tool is not being used.

The shear’s blades feature four cutting edges that do not require sharpening. The heavy-duty cutting head and drop-forged base provide for accurate cutting. The 5.2 amp tool offers a maximum torque of 26.5 inch-lbs., 5, 300 no load strokes per minute (SPM) and a capacity of 16 GA in mild steel and 18 GA in mild stainless steel. The minimum cutting radius is 5/8”.

The Ku 6872 measures only 9” and weighs 4.8 lbs.
