Viking adds new large K factor sprinkler to its Freedom® residential line

The Viking Corporation introduces a new 7.4 (10, 7) K factor residential pendent fire sprinkler (VK458). This sprinkler, the third new product added to Viking’s Freedom® line since June, provides the lowest starting pressures for NFPA 13 residential applications, including hotels, dormitories, and high-rise apartments, and other installations requiring 0.1 GPM/ft² density. All residential fire sprinklers are required to flow the same amount of water in NFPA 13 occupancies.

With its larger K factor, Viking’s new 7.4 (10, 7) K factor sprinkler delivers the lowest starting pressures in the industry for these applications. This cULus listed sprinkler may also be used in combination with smaller K factor sprinklers to significantly reduce a system’s overall water demand. The new VK458 sprinkler is offered in brass, chrome, black, and white standard finishes and is available with surface-mounted, adjustable, and recessed escutcheons. For ease of installation, the sprinkler is available with recessed adjustments up to a generous 5/8” (16 mm).

With an available range of K factors from 3.1 (4, 5) to 7.4 (10, 7), Viking’s leading Freedom® line of residential fire sprinklers offers more options to handle any type of installation, application, or available water condition.
