| New cordless drill/driver increases power, decreases charge time Metabo Corporation has introduced a cordless drill/driver with a new motor that offers increased power of up to 549 inch-lbs. of torque. The Metabo BSZ 18 Cordless Drill/Driver is ideal for a wide variety of construction and industrial work including drilling, tapping, and driving screws. The 18-volt tool offers 20 torque settings, plus a drill setting, with forward and reverse modes. Onboard Variospeed electronics allow infinite no-load speeds up to 1, 450 rpm. The new drill/driver features Metabo’s spindle lock for one-handed bit changing using the 1/4” keyless chuck, and an ergonomic, rubber-coated T-handle with a built-in clip that holds two bits. The tool uses a smooth gear change mechanism with 3-level planetary gears to extend tool life. The optimized fan helps keep the motor cool under load. The BSZ 18 utilizes Metabo’s new patented air-cooled battery system to increase performance. This system conduction-cools both the battery and the charger, keeping the battery at the optimum charging temperature, which results in 30% faster charging and increased service life. Each 18-volt battery offers 1.4 amp hours and an extended service life of up to 2000 charges. The Metabo BSZ 18 can drill up to 1/2" holes in mild steel and up to 1-3/16" holes in soft wood. The tool weighs 4.85 lbs. with battery. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
