| New line of pin & sleeve electrical devices Appleton announced the major launch of a broad new line of watertight pin-and-sleeve electrical plugs, receptacles, connectors, inlets and mechanical interlock devices designed to conform to IEC 309-1 and 309-2 global standards. The launch of this line ideally compliments Appleton’s existing large selection of plugs, receptacles and connectors, giving its customer base more choices and greater flexibility in designing electrical systems. Appleton’s problem-solving IEC 309 devices provide safe and reliable portable electrical connections in commercial and light industrial environments subject to temperature extremes, vibration, impact, dirt, moisture, corrosive elements and wash downs. Manufacturing plants, water treatment centers, marinas, food processing facilities and fast food restaurants are a few of their many applications. One of the most powerful advantages to Appleton IEC 309 devices is how easily they can be integrated into an existing system. Because of their interoperability, Appleton pin and sleeve devices will safely match those of other manufacturers, making them the cost-effective choice for MRO work. The pin and sleeve devices feature a singly rated, non-interchangeable configuration for every voltage and service, allowing plant and MRO staff to easily standardize electrical components, regardless of the manufacturer. To enhance operator safety, the products have a positive locking feature that stops accidental withdrawal or insertion of the pin while under load, plus a color-coding system that matches amperage and voltage requirements. In addition, the unique wiring configurations help to protect machinery and employees from the dangers of mismating devices of different voltages and service types. Designed for long-lasting value and performance, Appleton IEC 309 pin and sleeve devices integrate the key features that set the standard for the industry. The housings are constructed of flame retardant, impact resistant and non-corrosive Valox and nylon material to withstand the punishing conditions characteristic of industrial environments. Another benefit is the unique “onion” type seal. Fabricated from oil resistant synthetic rubber, the inner rings of the seal are easily removed during installation to accommodate a broad range of cable diameters. Appleton IEC 309 pin and sleeve devices are available in 3, 4 and 5 pin models with voltages ranging from 110V to 600V, and are rated at 20, 30, 60 and 100 amps. The product line meets NEMA 4X, CSA and the latest UL standards 1686 and 1680 to withstand the rigors of the virtually any environment, no matter how punishing. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
