100% Detail grows by 50% and features unmissable seminar programme

Seminars on renewable energy, offsite construction and futuristic materials – plus a host of major product launches and industry innovations - are some of the features of this year’s 100% Detail exhibition, which takes place at London’s Earls Court 1, between 22-25th September. Now in its third year, the show has become the architecture/design industry’s prime opportunity to discover new and innovative building products, services and solutions from the UK and overseas. Due to the success of 100% Detail 2004, this year’s event will for the first time, be open for four days and is set to be 50% bigger. This is a reflection of the exhibition’s growing popularity among exhibitors and specifiers alike.

The show space is designed to ensure that 100% Detail offers an inspiring and challenging environment for visitors, providing opportunities for education, exploration and entertainment. Features such as the central bar will offer break-out space for networking, while there will be two dedicated theatres for an exciting programme of 100% Debate seminars and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions. Acclaimed designer Tim Pyne is creative director for the show, supported by design project manager Richard Greenwood.

A rigorous selection process, using a panel of leading architects, engineers and design experts, ensures that every exhibitor is vetted for design quality, usefulness and innovation. As a result, the exhibition is an essential diary date for architects, engineers and specifiers, keen to source the best new products and services in a highly considered environment.

100% Detail 2005 will feature a large number of first-time exhibitors, along with many others who have not exhibited in the UK over recent years. This means that all key product areas are well represented by companies renowned for design and innovation.

Now totally sold out for 2005, 100% Materials is a unique feature area within 100% Detail, of vital interest to the architecture and design industries, showcasing new innovations in materials that are set to revolutionise the building industry.

Curated by leading materials expert Chris Lefteri – author of a range of authoritative books on materials including wood, ceramics and glass – 100% Materials 2005 will comprise an exciting central feature surrounded by custom-built display pods for individual manufacturers to showcase their products. Visitors will be able to experience at first hand new products ranging from Ultra Thin Steel to Nextel Flame Stopping Paper.

Co-ordinated by Scarlet Projects, this year’s series of 100% Detail seminars promises to be challenging, relevant and entertaining for architects, designers and specifiers alike.

Each day’s seminar programme will cover a different theme. Thursday focuses on high energy buildings, looking at how architects can build renewable energy generation into their designs. Offsite construction will be the subject of Friday’s seminars, while Saturday will offer insights into the future of materials. Sunday will have a more relaxed atmosphere featuring a debate on architecture, with the audience encouraged to vote whether specific buildings are cool. Seminars are free to attend and do not need to be booked in advance.

100% Detail hosts the unveiling of the prestigious Wood Awards shortlist. The competition recognises outstanding design, craftsmanship and installation of joinery and timber structures. Categories are: Commercial and Public Access; Private; Structural; and Conservation/Restoration.
