Cat® 325C LCR Hydraulic Excavator

The new Caterpillar 325C LCR Hydraulic Excavator features a compact swing radius for high productivity in tight areas. The excavator rotates with a minimal amount of counterweight extending past the tracks, yet its power and weight enable the excavator to perform well in applications where space is not a factor. Tail swing radius is only 6 ft 3 inches (1.90 m)—as compared to 10 ft 0 inches (3.05 m) for the standard 325C L. To further minimize the working envelope and to boost lift capacity over the front, the boom tower is positioned farther back in the upper frame as compared to a standard excavator. The design reduces the front swing radius when the boom is pulled up for easier operation in limited spaces.

To create an extremely stable platform, the 325C LCR uses the undercarriage of a larger excavator, the 330C L. Operating weight of the 325C LCR is 78, 044 lb (35 400 kg)—about 24 percent more than the standard 325C L. Many of the proven components used on the 325C L upper are used in the upper of the 325C LCR. The compact radius machine offers the same front linkage options, and the powerful Cat 3126B ATTAC engine with HEUITM fuel system powers both excavators. Net power is 188 hp (140 kW).

Both machines use the proven open-center, two-pump, negative flow hydraulic system. High flow works with the hydraulic cross-sensing system to boost productivity through faster implement speeds and quicker, stronger pivot turns. Pump flow decreases when controls are in neutral for reduced fuel consumption and sound.

The C-Series cab layout emphasizes simplicity and ease of use to sustain operator efficiency for an entire shift. The machine automatically adjusts the work mode to the task to unburden the operator. Air conditioning and suspension seat are standard. Fully automatic climate control adjusts temperature and ventilation flow without requiring frequent operator input.

The 325C LCR is designed for ground-level maintenance. Access to the engine oil filter, fuel water separator, air filters, batteries, and the pilot and drain hydraulic filters are from the ground.

Caterpillar offers an expanded line of work tools to optimize the 325C LCR for the job. Two different quick coupler options, the Pin Grabber Plus and the Dedicated Quick Coupler, enable the operator to change work tools quickly in the field. The machine comes equipped with standard combined function hydraulics, which allows customers to choose from either 1-way or 2-way flow, using one pump or two pumps. Flows can be set from the monitor, and up to five different tools can be stored in the monitor, eliminating the need to for adjustment when tools are changed on the machine. There is also a medium pressure circuit available as an option for tools that require a rotate function. A range of different buckets also expands excavator versatility.
