| Arsenic adsorber Bayoxide® E33 even more convenient in pellet form LANXESS Deutschland GmbH has developed Bayoxide® E33P, a new pelletized version of its arsenic adsorber Bayoxide® E33 for removing arsenic from drinking water and wastewater. The pellets have the same high arsenic removal capacity as the granules used to date, but they have a more even and narrower particle size distribution, which improves handling and leads to less pressure loss in the media bed. Bayoxide® E33 and Bayoxide® E33P are ferric oxide products that allow long operating cycles at low operating cost. Bayoxide® E33 and E33 P are sold worldwide through Severn Trent Services, a leading supplier of solutions for water and wastewater treatment. Severn Trent Services developed SORB 33 filters as a systems solution for waterworks and water treatment units. The process has clearly shown in practical use that it can reduce the arsenic content to significantly below the new threshold value of 10 micrograms per liter recommended by the WHO which will be officially binding in Europe and the USA from 2006. In the United States, SORB 33 and Bayoxide® E33 were selected for use at eight demonstration sites as part of Phase II of the National Arsenic Treatment Demonstration Project of the Environmental Protection Agency. They were also already used in six of the 12 Phase I sites. The project investigates the efficiency and effectiveness of drinking water treatment processes, process modifications and engineering approaches at various sites for ensuring compliance with the new US arsenic standard. Both Bayoxide® E33 products are certified to NSF Standard 61, the US health effects standard for all devices, components and materials that come into contact with drinking water. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
