| A leading range of nanocomposites Active leaders in the field of nanotechnology, Hanse Chemie manufactures spherical nanoparticles using modified innovative sol-gel processes. Available on industrial scales, the result is a range of nanocomposites with unprecedented combinations of properties. The products can be used as raw materials for coatings and varnishes or as reinforcing additives for a wide variety of industrial applications, particularly adhesives, fibre composites, electrical and electronic applications. The first nanocomposite available from the range is Nanocryl®. Formulated from non-agglomerated, spherical silica nanoparticles and unsaturated (meth-)acrylates, Nanocryl® combines the positive properties of the active ingredients in a unique way. Optimising the quality of acrylates, Nanocryl® increases surface hardness and scratch and abrasion resistance of coatings without any loss of transparency or elasticity. Suitable for use in coatings, adhesives, electronics, dental and medical and high performance applications, Nanocryl® can also help improve gas permeability and fracture toughness whilst reducing cure shrinkage. The second nanocomposite available from Hanse Chemie optimises the material quality of epoxy resins. Nanopox®, with its silica particles of only 5-50nm in size, can penetrate smaller structures, such as carbon fibre, to offer increased fracture toughness and impact resistance. When combined with standard epoxy resins, Nanopox® offers manufacturers the strength and stiffness of expensive, highly cross-linked epoxies, along with enormous toughness. Suitable for use in coatings, adhesives, composites, and electronic applications, Nanopox® offers unrivalled damage tolerance and interlaminar sheer strength for laminates. Nanocone®, the final nanocomposite available from Hanse Chemie, improves the working conditions and the quality of silicone elastomer when producing industrial moulding compounds. Nanocone® makes it possible for manufacturers to produce elastic gels with a relatively high filler load and improved mechanical properties without the use of plasticisers and eliminating the possibility of ‘bleeding'. A transparent, low viscosity dispersion of SiO2 nanoparticles in a vinyl-terminated basic silicone polymer, Nanocone® provides elasticity, transparency and shock resistance despite having high filler load. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Construction News :: home page |
