INCA adds Brexit to Annual Conference agenda with exclusive no-deal seminar now confirmed

The workshop will take place in Manchester on Wednesday, October 16 from 11am

London, UK, 8 October 2019 – As the Brexit debate continues and the deadline to leave approaches, the Independent Networks Co-operative Association (INCA) today announced it will host a special seminar immediately before its Annual Conference to explore the challenges and issues for digital infrastructure operators in the event of a no-deal.

Taking place at the Manchester Mercure Piccadilly Hotel on Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17, INCA’s Annual Conference will discuss the crucial issues that affect the development of new fibre and wireless broadband services across the UK. Key speakers will include James Heath, Director of Digital Infrastructure at DCMS, Chi Onwurah MP, Shadow Minister for Industrial Strategy, Science and Innovation, Wenbing Yao, of Huawei, and Catherine Colloms, of Openreach.

The focus of the just-confirmed Brexit seminar will be on the key challenges and how to prepare for a no-deal outcome, with government officials, operators and others in the telecoms sector scheduled to take part.

“As the Brexit debate rumbles on, organisations in the sector are weighing up the risks of a no-deal Brexit, with the availability of labour from European countries post-Brexit a top concern, ” said Malcolm Corbett, CEO of INCA. “This seminar will discuss the potential impact of a no-deal Brexit on the broadband industry and the readiness of organisations in the sector. The Government is working hard to get a deal. If this succeeds we will still face significant changes, albeit over a longer period. The session will provide a platform for digital infrastructure operators to discuss the challenges that lie ahead and how they can be overcome.”

The seminar will take place on 16th October 11:00 - 13:00 and is free to all INCA members, conference participants and others with an interest in the potential impact of a no-deal Brexit on the sector.

Following the seminar, INCA will circulate the feedback and the results of a short follow-up survey. Towards the end of October, as the position becomes clearer, INCA will host a webinar for operators to discuss any final concerns.
