telent among top 20 of Sunday Times Top Track 250

Midlands-based company specialises in mission critical communications and counts Highways England, BT, Transport for London and Network Rail among its customers

Warwick, UK, 7 October 2019: telent Technology Services Ltd (telent), a leading UK technology and network services company, has been ranked at number 18 in the 15th annual Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table, which ranks Britain’s private mid-market growth companies with the biggest sales.

To enter the table, telent had to achieve sales typically between £110m and £700m and record a growth in sales of 5% or more in the financial year. With decades of experience in mission critical communications, telent works with household names including Network Rail, Transport for London (TfL), BT and Highways England.

The company – which is headquartered in Warwick, with further offices in Camberley, Chorley, Basildon, London and operational locations across the UK and Ireland – won a number of contracts during 2018 that contributed to its top 20 position in this important league table. These include agreements covering Highways England’s National Roads Telecommunications Services (NRTS), Openreach, High Speed 1 (HS1) stations, ESN Assure and East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service. Various traffic signal maintenance wins also contributed to telent’s growth throughout the year.

“We are extremely proud to see our hard work and achievements recognised with such a high ranking in the Sunday Times Top Track 250, ” said Frank McKay, CEO at telent. “As a company we are focused on creating, managing and maintaining some of the UK’s most mission critical technology and networks – the operation of which is pivotal for vital services, including the emergency services and the smooth running of the UK’s roads and rail services.”

More recently, telent has won contracts with the UK’s first nuclear power plant for 25 years, Hinckley Point C, to design and build the IT communications infrastructure in conjunction with EDF Energy. Other wins include Network Rail and Sky, with the Sky contract win including the upgrade of the Wi-Fi at numerous cricket grounds across the country. Network Rail also announced last week that it has selected telent to deliver Wi-Fi nationally across its major stations.

McKay added: “We see this ranking as both a credit to our valuable team and a confirmation of the confidence that our customers have in telent as a trusted partner that plays a significant role in their operations.”

telent was previously included in the Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 at number 77 in 2013 and number 30 in 2016.
