Transatlantic law firm chooses LexisNexis Newsdesk

Womble Bond Dickinson credits LexisNexis’ current awareness tool with its "deep" sector knowledge

LONDON, 29th November 2017 – LexisNexis UK (www.lexisnexis.co.uk), a leading provider of content and technology solutions, today announced that LexisNexis Newsdesk is the current awareness service of choice for UK top 20 law firm*, Womble Bond Dickinson.

The transatlantic law firm, which operates from 16 office locations in the US and eight UK cities including London, claims the service that accesses news from 56, 000 licensed print, broadcast and digital sources has become an "essential component" of its lawyers' business intelligence.

Both lawyers and Business Development teams at the firm credit LexisNexis Newsdesk with providing vital "deep" sector insight into their clients' businesses.

As well as helping them retain and win business, they claim the user-friendly system saves the firm significant amounts of time.

Since choosing LexisNexis Newsdesk, Womble Bond Dickinson has been able to send regular, targeted newsletters to specific people and teams within the firm to alert them to news about any of their clients, sectors or related topics.

Despite having a large number of recipients, the Library and Information Services team at Womble Bond Dickinson manages alerts centrally via one administrator, Rosy Wassell.

Anna Carey, Library and Information Manager at Womble Bond Dickinson, said: "Before LexisNexis Newsdesk, we didn't have a solution which could deliver regular aggregated client and sector-specific alerts. We explored a few products and LexisNexis Newsdesk was the one that ticked all the boxes."

Rosy Wassell agrees and particularly praised the LexisNexis Newsdesk facility to drill down to specific keywords and exclude or include specific content: "If a topic's too broad and people are getting a massive amount of alerts in a day, I can add extra keywords to fine tune the results."

Paul Harvey, Head of Knowledge and Legal Training at Womble Bond Dickinson, said: "LexisNexis Newsdesk is an essential component of our lawyers' business intelligence toolkit. The alerts service provides a very efficient, easy-to-use 'heads up' on breaking news and stories across our client base, distilling key stories and developments into one consolidated email."

Jatin Chauhan, Head of News Platforms & Current Awareness at LexisNexis, added: "This innovative law firm shares a mutual passion for knowing clients and their industries through the efficient use of technology. A key part of the success in the delivery of LexisNexis Newsdesk has been the partnership approach between Womble Bond Dickinson and LexisNexis to understanding the firm’s sector focus, business development and training needs."
