Console Connect announces agreement with The Bunker to provide interconnection capabilities to financial services

Deal will develop Console Connect’s position in financial sector and improve the data sovereignty options of The Bunker’s customers

London, UK, 13th June, 2017 – Console Connect, a leading provider of global direct connect solutions, today announced a deal with The Bunker, the ultra-secure Managed Services Provider. The agreement will provide a secure means of data transmission between The Bunker’s ex-MOD facilities and private and public cloud providers, including Amazon Web Services.

The agreement also represents an expansion of Console Connect’s presence in the financial sector, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to cultivating its cross-vertical capabilities.

Using Console Connect’s platform, The Bunker’s customers will be able to bypass the vulnerable public internet to securely transfer their business-critical data between the public cloud and The Bunker’s ultra-secure hosting facilities – former UK Ministry of Defence and US Air Force command premises. With direct connections, customers of The Bunker will achieve greater control over their IT infrastructures to facilitate compliance with ISO standards and forthcoming GDPR regulations.

Both the ISO financial standards and next year’s GDPR regulations require that financial service companies have the utmost control over their data. In line with GDPR requirements, companies are obligated to develop clear procedures to protect personal data, and to employ additional organisational measures to enforce such procedures. Using Console Connect’s platform, businesses can identify sensitive data and organise it between their public and private hosting services.

“Today’s agreement consolidates the strength of our partner ecosystem” said Ruth Plater, VP of Marketing, EMEA, Console Connect. “Our platform will provide a secure and simple interconnection solution that can directly connect financial services clients with business-critical cloud providers, SaaS providers, and partners. In light of next year’s GDPR regulations, customers of The Bunker can expect a greater degree of data sovereignty, and ensure they have the foundations for compliance.”

“The Console solution has allowed us to significantly simplify the way in which we extend our reach from our data centres to anywhere in the world” said Phil Bindley, Chief Technology Officer, The Bunker. “Also, in addition to the traditional connectivity services to all ‘on net’ carriers, we can now also provision connectivity into public cloud services, supporting our expanding hybrid cloud offerings.”

Console’s platform offers a fully automated interconnection solution that enables organisations to bypass the non-secure public internet and establish private and secure connections with a single click. The platform extracts all Layer 2 and Layer 3 configuration complexities, enabling users to focus on their core business without the need to become a global network operator. Leveraging 170 PoPs across 20 countries, users obtain access to providers across the globe, without the significant time and capital investments of previous interconnection solutions.
