Iskratel unveils two new GPON products ahead of ANGA COM

Cologne, Germany, and Ljubljana, Slovenia, May 23, 2017 – Iskratel, the leading European infocommunications vendor and solutions provider, today announced the release of two GPON solutions – the Innbox G22 Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and new software which seamlessly delivers gigabit services over fibre using a traditional cable infrastructure.

The DOCSIS Provisioning of GPON software can be installed in a cable operator’s Network Management System (NMS) to bring the benefits of fibre without having to replace back office systems and procedures. Iskratel has already successfully deployed the solution for one cable operator in Slovenia, enabling a fibre upgrade with a low upfront investment cost and minimal disruption.

“As customer demand for faster networks grows, many cable operators are facing an increasing number of challenges, ” said Damijan Slapar, CTO at Iskratel. “While DOCSIS 3.1 offers one option for upgrading their networks, deploying their own fibre infrastructures will give cable operators a better return on investment and future-proof their networks – but, of course, a full network upgrade is not always possible. This is where our new adaptation software comes in, enabling fibre services to be delivered via a software layer implemented in the NMS.”

The Innbox G22 – also due to be unveiled at ANGA COM – is designed for service providers looking to meet the demand for high-speed connections. It enables the delivery of a full range of services such as Internet data, as well as RF video output. Quality of service support is included, while the need for set-top boxes is eliminated as a result of the RF video output.

Iskratel’s new offerings follow the release of the Innbox G69 Home Gateway, with 802.11ac 3x3 support and RF video output, at this year’s FTTH Conference. This provides operators with more control over the services being delivered and gives customers superior Wi-Fi performance and coverage via additional managed access points which increase the number of Wi-Fi channels that can be accessed. Other products available in the Innbox series include fibre termination units and network-extension devices.

“With our GPON portfolio now complete, we are confident we have a range of solutions to satisfy the demands of all operators at any price point, ” added Slapar.

Iskratel will showcase its full range of products, including the Innbox G67 and Innbox G22 for the first time, at ANGA COM, which takes place at the Congress-Centrum Koelmesse, in Cologne, from Tuesday, May 30 to Thursday, June 1.
