Fujikura Europe to display world’s best splicing technology at Data Centre World London 2017

Worldwide leader of fusion splicing technology will exhibit new 70R and advanced SWR at this year’s show

Chessington, UK. 07 March 2017: Fujikura Europe will present its unrivalled fusion splicing and connectivity solutions at this year’s Data Centre World London.

Among the products on show will be the 70R, the latest addition to Fujikura’s fusion splicer range, specifically designed to resist shock, rain and dust, allowing it to withstand ruggedized conditions and a 30 inch drop test. The new and improved 70R – the fastest ribbon fusion splicer in the world – was designed to be more ergonomic, faster and have greater durability than its predecessor the 60R, and allows the user to customise the operation of the machine to best suit their splicing technique and process.

“We understand that the process of removing fibres should be fast and easy, and that completing splices should result in greater productivity, ” said Neil Bessant, Divisional Manager - Fusion Splicer Division at Fujikura Europe. “With the 70R, Fujikura Europe has streamlined the steps required to complete splices, resulting in greater efficiency. This, combined with an automatic wind protector and customisable operations, make the product altogether the fastest ribbon fusion splicer technology out there.”

The advanced Spider Web Ribbon™ (SWR) & Wrapping Tube Cable™ (WTC) will also be on display, designed for high density interconnections in data centres and central offices. The SWR allows mass fusion splicing just like conventional optical fibre ribbon and – when used in conjunction with WTC – delivers dramatic reductions in cable outer diameter and weight, whilst simultaneously improving the flexibility & handling. It is ideal for the efficient use of conduit and manhole spaces, which are normally extremely congested with legacy cables, especially in downtown areas of old and large cities.

Alongside the SWR/WTC and 70R at Data Centre World will be a range of state-of-the-art Fujikura splicing technologies and solutions for automated and high-end splicing applications such as the 70S – Fujikura’s gold standard single fibre splicer – and the 22S, the world’s smallest and lightest Active V-groove splicer.

A full range of Fujikura Europe’s test and troubleshooting technology for all environments will also be on show, including: the SMLP5-5 Loss Test Kit for darker or direct sunlight environments; the Rogue for customisable application-specific testing; the M310 – the most complete Enterprise Data Centre Ready OTDR – which reduces training time and testing errors; and the Flex Scan, which allows technicians to quickly and reliably troubleshoot optical networks or fully characterise newly installed or repaired networks.

“Our connectors and fusion splicers can make a real difference to data centres and networks by providing an accessible and efficient way to improve installation times inside and outside without compromising performance, ” added Bessant. “We are looking forward to showcasing our world leading technology and the potential it offers to the data centre market to Data Centre World visitors.”

Data Centre World exhibition visitors can see Fujikura Europe technology at Stand E80, March 15-16 at the ExCel, London.
