StoneGate Firewall/VPN 5.1 and Management Centre 5.1 Released

Stonesoft has announced the availability of the StoneGate Firewall/VPN 5.1 and StoneGate Management Centre 5.1. New features in these solutions include web filtering, 3G wireless network support and 64-bit operating system support. These increase security against sophisticated network threats, boost network performance and improve third-party event management.

Web filtering prevents access to malware sites
The new web filtering feature offers organisations the benefits of increased security by preventing access to known malware and phishing sites. In addition, it improves work efficiency and bandwidth usage by blocking access to unwanted websites.

A comprehensive URL database with millions of URLs in 77 categories guarantees accurate visibility to web browsing. Access control can be done easily just by adding categories directly in firewall security policies.

Fully customisable reporting and logging capabilities allow administrators to follow web browsing activities online or by using scheduled summary reports.

Remote site connectivity with 3G wireless network connections
StoneGate Firewall/VPN 5.1 offers support for 3G wireless interfaces. The 3G modem is connected to a USB port of the StoneGate Firewall/VPN appliance and the 3G link can be used as a primary or backup connection. This is convenient especially for small remote offices or business sites that need a cost-effective backup connection for their primary landline.

Enhanced visibility with third-party event management
The StoneGate Management Centre's new capabilities include support for 64-bit operating systems, which provides improved network performance and scalability.

The management centre also features enhancements to third-party event management and probing methods, SNMP query support with reporting capabilities, status surveillance and new predefined logging profiles for standard log formats such as WELF and CLF.
